Well of course George W Bush wouldn't speak for 'free', when invited to speak, and pay his own travel expenses, he a republican, they just don't do that!! They, and the media, blame any failings at the people served responsibility on the personal of that agency, decades now and wars from, the Veterans Administration!! Don't even pay for their wars, and him at that extreme high end income with them huge tax cuts, two, he gave to them elites, nor long term results from the policies implemented!!
Jul 8, 2015 - Former President George W. Bush charged $100,000 to speak at a charity fundraiser for U.S. military veterans severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, and former First Lady Laura Bush collected $50,000 to appear a year earlier, officials of the Texas-based Helping a Hero charity confirmed to ABC News. The former President was also provided with a private jet to travel to Houston at a cost of $20,000, the officials said.
The charity, which helps to provide specially-adapted homes for veterans who lost limbs and suffered other severe injuries in “the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said the total $170,000 expenditure was justified because the former President and First Lady offered discounted fees and helped raise record amounts in contributions at galas held in 2011 and 2012.
“It was great because he reduced his normal fee of $250,000 down to $100,000,” said Meredith Iler, the former chairman of the charity.
However, a recent report by Politico said the former President’s fees typically ranged between $100,000 and $175,000 during those years.
One of the wounded vets who served on the charity’s board told ABC News he was outraged that his former commander in chief would charge any fee to speak on behalf of men and women he ordered into harm's way.
“For him to be paid to raise money for veterans that were wounded in combat under his orders, I don’t think that’s right,” said former Marine Eddie Wright, who lost both hands in a rocket attack in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004. read more>>>

Meanwhile, starting even before administrations changed, Michelle and Jill not only speak with Veterans but Military personal and their Families, organize many groups, corporations and more, to stand up and aid same, much more, for free!! While the Executive branch, and it's Cabinet, staring with Sec Shinseki, with a conservative target on him for speaking Military truth while still active, and thankfully continuing with Sec McDonald, conservative but not a lapgog to, fight to build what those served never did! Not only in taking care of those from these recent, still unpaid for, wars but also addressing long ignored or outright denied issues, especially from our wars, while agency budgets are still, conservative, obstructed!! Easier to lay blame on the VA personal for the ongoing problems created by those served through their representatives!!

The Royal United Services Institute said the UK could face a bill of nearly £65bn, once the cost of long-term care for injured veterans was factored in, with most of the money was spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The study, called Wars in Peace, said both conflicts were largely “strategic failures” for the UK, The Guardian reported."
"And when you add up to the Department of Defense, Department of State, CIA, Veterans Affairs, interest on debt, the number that strikes me the most about how much we're committed financially to these wars and to our current policies is we have spent $250 billion already just on interest payments on the debt we've incurred for the Iraq and Afghan wars." 26 September 2014
December 22 2014 - American taxpayers have shelled out roughly $1.6 trillion on war spending since 9/11, according to a new report from Congress’ nonpartisan research arm. Chris Hayes MSNBC: "If you can run a deficit to go to war, you can run a deficit to take care of the people who fought it" In response to Republican opposition to expanding Veterans' benefits on fiscal grounds
Neither of these recent wars have yet been paid for, let alone the results from, including the long ignored or outright denied existence of, till this Administrations Cabinet and Gen Shinseki, only Government branch consistent for the past six years, issues! As well as under deficits most of the, grossly under funded, VA budget is still borrowed thus added, problem creating, costs that shouldn't exist!
