The Intelligence and Security Committee should be appointed by MPs05 Feb 2014 - Following the Government’s abandonment of the judge-led Gibson Inquiry, the Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC), the prime minister-appointed watchdog of MPs and peers, has now been given the crucial role of investigating allegations of Britain’s involvement in the CIA’s extraordinary rendition programme.
The ISC will struggle to command public confidence on this, not least because it has already investigated rendition and erroneously concluded that Britain was not involved, only to be flatly contradicted by a court ruling the following year. read more>>>
