November 16, 2010 - The contrast could not be more distressing.
The British government has decided to pay former detainees at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, tens of millions of dollars in compensation and conduct an independent investigation into its role in the mistreatment of prisoners.
The United States still operates the Guantánamo camp, with no end in sight. None of the truly dangerous terrorists there have been brought to justice, while many prisoners are still held who never should have been. The government not only refuses to come clean on this ignoble history, but it is covering up the Bush administration’s abuses by denying victims a day in court. {read rest}
We know the costs in blood, never to totally in civilians, but what of the costs in treasury still not paid! How much to buy the coalition of the willing, how much to buy the CIA rendition and secret prisons globalizing torture, how much for the decades to come as to the results of both wars, more. Neither has been paid for, rubber stamping and rapid deficit rises started Before 9/11 and nothing as to the peoples responsibility, the VA, as to just one of the needs in those results from!

Accountability! {Oh, not here in the states}
See we don't do that, certainly not for terror waged with death and destruction as well as now the World knowing we torture and hold others with no trials and miles from their Countries and Families!! Our society is geared to who's buying those we hire as we fear that word 'accountability', would mean the death of political opportunity for those hired reps to work for the wealthy and corporations while we whine about getting hand searched at airports {while our soldiers are getting killed and maimed, we also don't do 'sacrifice' even for the veterans}, seems many now are still seeking retaliation!
